The Five Points YMCA is proud to present its beautiful Aquatic Center, offering Parent/Child, Preschool and Youth & Adult Swim Lessons, Aquatic Fitness Classes, an Arthritis Aquatic Program, and Lap & Recreational Swim.
From our parent/child classes at six months of age, to our advanced youth level of Flying Fish, our primary objectives are the achievements of aquatic skills and personal safety. The YMCA Swim Lesson Program consists of a parent/child & preschool series, a youth series of progressive lessons, adult group lessons, and private lessons.
Swim Lesson Types*
- Parent/Child
Emphasizes basic aquatic safety & encourages increased comfort & independence in the water. - Preschool
Includes two levels. Helps children develop independent movement in the water, teaches basic strokes, and proper use of flotation devices.
Youth
Progressive series designed for children ages 6-11 focusing on five components including personal safety, personal growth, stroke development, water sports and games, and age-appropriate rescue. Each skill level builds upon the preceding level. Swimmers should be tested to ensure proper placement.- New Swim Level! SHARK (ages 6-11)
- Teen (12-15 yr / 45 min class)
Designed for teens who have never participated in swim lessons or are looking to improve on basic swimming skills. - Adult (12 yr and up / 45 min class)
This class is for older teens and adults who don’t feel at ease in the water and have limited swimming skills. Beginner & intermediate levels are available. - Private (All ages - 30 min class)
Private swim lessons by appointment for any age group.

Group Swim Classes
- Aqua Fitness Aqua fitness is a great water cardiovascular program that improves muscular strength and endurance. Non-swimmers are welcome - class is held in the shallow end of the pool.
- AQUA ATHLETICS is a mid intensity water aerobics program,designed to accommodate all ages and fitness levels
- HYDRO HEALTH is filled with continuous water activity, based on creative and motivating exercises
- AQUA STEP is a mid intensity water aerobics program, which includes all the basic movements of step
- Arthritis Program - AFYAP (Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program)
Designed for adults of all ages with arthritis and related conditions to do gentle activities without putting excess strain on joints. - Shallow Water Basic
Helps improve muscular strength, endurance and flexibility.
